“I don’t know which IVF clinic to choose”
“I’m not happy about how my fertility journey is going”
“I am worried about my relationship with my partner and/or others”
“I’m not sure how long my journey will last or how I will afford it”

“I am overwhelmed by the amount of information and decisions needed”
These are just a few of the reasons why people are seeking help….
I’m Alan Thornhill
I’m Alan Thornhill – a fertility expert with 25 years of experience and over 100 scientific publications in IVF. Working with IVF clinics worldwide, I’ve been involved in thousands of IVF journeys helping people with challenging issues – from low sperm count to surrogacy. I’ve worked as a researcher, clinical embryologist in world-renowned clinics, marketing and management for IVF industry suppliers as well as the UK’s fertility regulator.
It’s these diverse roles and experience which make me unique and ready to help you – whatever your situation.
Why fertility coaching?
You’ve come this far, and you are looking for information or seeking answers to your urgent questions. I get it. It’s a jungle out there and there is a lot of information to sift through. If you are not already getting the support, information or answers you need, then maybe a coach can help you. In fact, I know a coach can help you.
What is a fertility coach?
A fertility coach provides guidance, support, and education to individuals or couples trying to conceive or facing fertility challenges.
Typically, the services a fertility coach might provide include:
- Education
- Emotional support
- Guidance on lifestyle choices
- Support through medical treatments
- Advocacy and referrals
- Mind-body techniques
- Resource provision
- Assistance with decision-making and boundary setting
- Ethical and moral support and access to support groups
It’s important to note that a fertility coach does not replace medical professionals. They don’t diagnose conditions or prescribe treatments. Instead, they work alongside medical professionals, providing a different kind of support.
How can coaching help me?
Most people I meet as a coach have already had some bad experiences or are feeling overwhelmed by the treatment. That’s why it’s never too early (or too late) to start working with a coach. Coaches can help you physically and mentally prepare before treatment and help you decide on the right clinic for you. Once in treatment or after unsuccessful treatment a coach can help you navigate the journey and help with decisions about next steps.
Are you the right fertility coach for me?
I’ve got a lot of experience and a no-nonsense approach. But – I’ll be straight with you. Depending on your specific needs, another coach may be a better fit for you. That’s part of what the introductory call is about. You shouldn’t have to work with someone you don’t connect with.
Book your FREE Introductory Call
The introductory call is all about listening to your journey, you telling ‘the story so far’ – what has worked and what hasn’t. What you’re happy about and what you’re not. I then identify ways in which I might be able to help (or not) and we both get to decide whether or not we can work together.
Hint: it’s not always the first thing that someone says that they are unhappy about that is the real problem.
Example: A couple describes their failed cycle. The failure is upsetting and seems like a waste of money. What comes out in the discovery call is that ‘no one is listening to me or considering my concerns, communication with the clinic is poor and my boundaries are not respected’.
The Right Questions
Infertility and IVF treatment can be confusing and information overload is very common. That’s why understanding the process and being prepared to ask the right questions is key. As a result, you’ll be better able to set boundaries and push back when necessary. This will help you to feel empowered and able to cope with the inevitable ups and downs before, during and after treatment. A fertility coach can help you to ask the right questions.
The IVF Process
You probably never expected to be where you are; trying to do the most natural thing in the world with the help of strangers in an unfamiliar setting. No one expects you to become a fertility expert but it’s important that you quickly get a basic knowledge of the IVF process and especially those specific treatment options which apply to you. Theres a LOT of information out there and its crucial to find the most accurate, unbiased information you can. A fertility coach can help you to do this.
Understanding Your Options
IVF has become a routine form of treatment for infertility and can seem inflexible. However during treatment there are always options. By understanding the IVF process, your chosen clinic’s treatment non-negotiables and your own ‘red-lines’ we can spend the time needed to properly discuss your options. You’ll always have options and this will give you back some control.
Tailored to You
Your IVF journey and personal background is unique. We will tailor the sessions, education and coaching to you and your specific needs. You won’t be reading about stress, diet and crystals unless that’s what you want to discuss!
